OUR STORY
ABOUT THE FARM
Bruce Farm Alpaca Stud is a beautiful boutique farm located in the stunning Hillend, in the incredible Clutha Valley, just 8 minutes west of Balclutha.
We are an easy 1 hour drive south from Dunedin, so make sure when you explore Southland you add us to your list of places to visit!
At Bruce Farm, we have our amazing alpaca herd, and a host of other unusual and rare farm animals, including adorable miniature horses, Aracana chickens, baby chicks, sheep, "Bindi" the cow, our Maltese puppy Knuckles, Ginger Ninja the cat.

KIM & KATEE PALIN
We are Kim & Katee Palin, the owners of Bruce Farm.
We got our first alpacas in 2018, at that time we knew nothing about alpacas, but fell in love with them.
The name Bruce Farm came from Kim telling me that every animal on farm will be called Bruce (if he forgets someone’s name he calls them Bruce!!!), as he knows I make a pet out of every animal, and we will eat them.
I saw my first alpaca at Gore Field day and had to have one, so I told Kim I am getting 2 alpacas and you are not calling them Bruce nor are we eating them.
Now we have 113 alpacas and Kim loves them as much as me. We have started a great breeding program with the knowledge and help of our great friend Gordon Baird , whom is very experienced with alpacas.
We now enter alpacas and their fleece into shows and are having some great results and a wall of ribbons.
Having alpacas has been a great change of lifestyle for us, in Australia we owned an Electrical Contractors business, this is much more rewarding and such a pleasure to interact everyday with them and all our other lovely additions to Bruce Farm.
