OUR STAR ALPACAS
NIGEL
Nigel came to Bruce Farm in 2018 with his mum, Maddox and sister Lucy Maree. Nigel is the cuddliest, friendly boy ever, he just love attention and loves having cuddles and kisses.
Nigel had a rough time a few years ago when we had a cold snap, he got hyperthermia and was very sick, we had the vet to him and I slept all night with him in the shed and by morning he was strong enough to stand by himself. Nigel has never forgotten what I did with him and is so kind and gentle with me.
Nigel is entire, but due to his sickness he has been unable to get any girls pregnant, so he will be staying on this farm as a great alpaca for people to interact with.

Colour: Medium Fawn
Rigel was purchased by Waiwera Alpacas at 9 months old from the Motueka area on the recommendation of an excellent alpaca judge who believed he had the potential to be a quality stud male.
Certified in December 2012, his first mating was that same month and resulted in a female cria, Valex, now part of the Bruce Farm herd. Rigel has left cria of nearly every colour including black and grey, and his cria tend to follow the colour of the dam.
He is excellent on the halter,easy to handle and is a well travelled male, as mobile matings were part of his stud duties while resident at Waiwera Alpacas and included Alexandra, Invercargill and Wanaka in his tours.
Bruce Farm Alpacas purchased a share in Rigel in October 2019 and he has been the resident senior stud male since the winding-up of Waiwera Alpacas at the beginning of 2021. He is leaving excellent cria from the wide variety of females which are currently being bred from at his new home.

Please note, Bruce Farm is a working farm, and as such there are health & safety procedures that must be followed.
Bruce Farm Alpaca Stud is a working farm, there may be movement of vehicles and animals during your visit.
Follow instructions from your guide.
Do not enter paddocks without guide directions.
Wear appropriate footwear, you will be walking though grass lanes.
Hazards do exist, do not leave your tour party and wander on your own.
Young children are to be under adult supervision at all times.
Do not feed animals, guide will supply correct foods.
